Rope Guide For Electric Hoist

When there is no rope guide, the wire rope will enter the gap at the end of the drum and be squeezed and deformed when the rope is wound around. The oblique hanging will cause the rope to be messy, the deformation of the wire rope, and the wear between the wire rope and the drum shell.

"Hoisting Machinery Glossary - Mechanism and Parts" explains the rope guide as a rope guide, which is defined as a device that enables the steel wire rope to be wound neatly on the drum at specified intervals.

The rope guides used in the past include block type and ring type rope guides. At present, block type rope guides are basically not used.

When the reel rotates, it is wound along with the steel wire rope, driven by the thread groove to move along the axial direction, and the wound steel wire rope is accurately introduced and drawn out of the spiral groove of the reel at any time, and the steel wire rope is discharged from the gap of the rope guide.

However, this type of rope guide has a relatively high failure rate in use. It is often the case that the rope guide is pulled and the connecting rod is bent. The main reason is that the rope guide slides on the connecting rod, and the movement of the rope guide on the drum and the winding of the wire rope cannot be synchronized.

In order to reduce the occurrence of such failures, the design form of the rope guide is beneficially improved.

1 Design and manufacture requirements of rope guide

The electric hoist with single-layer winding should be equipped with a rope guide; when the rope guide is used, it should be able to ensure that when the hook is lowered and the wire rope has no other external force, the wire rope can still be freely discharged from the outlet of the rope guide. Lifting and lowering the rated load, the deflection angle of the steel wire rope to the vertical plane of the axis of the drum is ±3°, which can work normally.

2 Design and manufacture of the rope guide

2.1 The design idea of the rope guide

The role of the drum is to wind the wire rope in the hoisting mechanism, transmit power, and change the rotary motion into linear motion. Spiral grooves are usually cut out on the surface of the drum, and the helix angle is generally 3°-4°, which increases the contact area of the wire rope, prevents adjacent wire ropes from rubbing against each other, and improves the service life of the wire rope.

Because the spiral groove cut out by the drum also has the function of guiding the rope, the steel wire rope can be arranged neatly. But often without the synergy of other auxiliary mechanisms, the wire rope wound on the drum will jump out of the spiral groove, causing the wire rope to be disordered; sometimes the wire rope will be squeezed and deformed when it enters the gap at the end of the drum; Several spiral grooves; irregular arrangement will cause wear and deformation of the wire rope and drum; in short, this will affect the use of the drum and wire rope, thereby shortening the service life of the crane.

In order to make the wire ropes neatly arranged on the reel and prolong the service life of each part of the machine body, many crane manufacturers have installed rope guide devices accordingly.

The crane with the rope guide device is sometimes not operated according to the usage specifications (such as obliquely or laterally lifting heavy objects), the rope guide is often pulled, causing the crane to fail to work and affecting the normal production.

In order to avoid such things from happening, a rope guide with a simple structure can be designed by using the spiral groove of the drum to make the wire rope wind along the groove. This rope guide is installed on the crane manufactured by our company. After use, the user React works great.

2.2 The working principle of the rope guide

The pressure rod of the rope guide presses the wire rope wound on the drum to prevent the wire rope from jumping out of the spiral groove. If the wire rope is pulled obliquely or sideways, the wire rope tends to jump out of the spiral groove, and the pressure rod of the rope guide will be lifted. As a result, the micro switch installed on the pressure bar bracket combination moves, thereby cutting off the upper and lower power supplies of the crane, and making the crane stop working. in the spiral groove of the reel).

The on-site operators must operate in accordance with the operating procedures before the crane can work. The gap formed between the wire rope and the pressure bar is smoothly drawn in and discharged, ensuring that the wire rope is neatly arranged on the drum.

2.3 Advantages of Rope Guides

(1) Greatly reduce the wear of the wire rope by the rope guide and prolong the service life of the wire rope. The pressure rod of the rope guide and the wire rope are in rolling contact, and the contact surface with the wire rope is relatively small, basically no wear on the wire rope;

(2) Correspondingly prolonging the service life of the reel. Since the rope guide has no contact friction with the reel, there is no contact wear on the reel, thereby prolonging the life of the reel;

(3) The rope guide is an electromechanical linkage device. When the wire rope is about to jump out of the spiral groove, the rope guide can respond in time to ensure that the wire rope can be wound correctly on the drum;

(4) Encourage the operator to operate the synergy between the micro switch, pressure rod and the control circuit on the rope guide according to the specification; urge the operator to operate according to the specification;

(5) Easy repair and maintenance Because the rope guide is connected to the end plate of the crane with bolts through the combination of brackets on both sides, and it is on the side of the drum and wire rope, it is easy to disassemble and maintain.

With the development of technology, the structure of the rope guide has also been improved accordingly, and the assembly, maintenance and replacement are more convenient. Some parts are made of high-strength plastics with toughness and elasticity, instead of cast iron materials, and anti-friction additives are added. There is rolling friction between the pressure wheel and the steel wire rope, which greatly reduces the wear of the steel wire.
