3.Maintenance of wire rope of crane single girder unloading and storage:

 

To avoid accidents and/or damage to the rope, be unloaded with care.

 

The rope reel or coil must not be dropped or struck by the metal hook or fork of the forklift or any other force that may damage or deform the rope.

 

Rope should be stored in a cool, dry building and should not be allowed to come into contact with the floor. They should not be stored where they may be affected by chemicals, chemical fumes, vapors, or other corrosive agents.

 

If outdoor storage cannot be avoided, the rope should be covered to prevent corrosion caused by moisture.

 

Cords in storage should be inspected regularly for any signs of deterioration, such as surface corrosion, and if deemed necessary by the officer in charge, an appropriate preservative or lubricant compatible with the lubricant used in the manufacture of the cords should be applied.

 

In a warm environment, the reel should be rotated half a turn regularly to prevent the loss of lubricant from the rope.
