Why is it Strictly Forbidden to Overload the Crane?
Whether it is bridge crane, gantry crane, gantry crane, etc., the rated lifting capacity of these cranes is the maximum lifting capacity. Lifting work exceeding this value is called overloading work, which often causes excessive stress and exceeds the set limit of the crane. Safety value, the wire rope/hook is broken, the transmission system components are damaged, the motor is burned, and due to insufficient braking force, the braking system cannot hold the brake and other safety accidents.
Secondly, the overload work will cause great damage to the structure of the crane itself. Typical examples are the deflection of the main girder, cracks and open welding on the upper back cover and beam ends, which cause serious safety hazards to the crane.

Cranes are strictly prohibited from overloading operations because:
(1) The overload operation of the crane will generate excessive stress, which may cause the wire rope to break beyond its allowable tension, or the hook may break, and heavy objects may fall from high altitude, causing major accidents to personnel or equipment.
(2) Overloading may damage the mechanical transmission parts of the crane, and may also lead to a reduction in braking torque or brake failure.
(3) Overloading may cause the crane to damage electromechanical equipment (such as motor burning due to overload).
(4) Overloading is also very harmful to the metal structure of the crane, causing deformation of the main stressed structure.
(5) Overloading destroys the stability of the crane, which may cause vicious accidents such as shortening the service life of the crane or overturning the whole machine.

When the main girder deflects downward during overload lifting, the track of the trolley will deform along with the main girder. When the trolley goes from the middle to both sides, it not only has to overcome the normal running friction resistance, but also overcomes the additional friction resistance caused by climbing. When the overload is too large, the motor of the trolley operation mechanism will be overloaded and burnt.
In addition, the trolley will also appear deviation, slipping and other situations, which seriously endanger the lifting work. If it is a double-girder crane, it will also cause the trolley to run on only three legs, which will shorten the service life of the crane due to rail gnawing.
When operating the crane, the operating specifications must be followed, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of safety accidents. Educate operators to properly maintain the crane according to the instructions in the manual to ensure that the crane will do its best for lifting and hoisting within its normal service life!
