Crane Grab Bucket

Grab bucket refers to a special tool for cranes to grab dry bulk cargo.

The container space is composed of two or more open able and closable bucket-shaped jaws. When loading, the jaws are closed in the material pile, and the material is caught into the container space.

When unloading, the jaws are in the material pile. It is opened under the suspended state, and the material is scattered on the material pile.

The opening and closing of the jaw plate is generally controlled by the wire rope of the hoisting mechanism of the crane.

Grab bucket operation does not require heavy manual labor, which can achieve high loading and unloading efficiency and ensure safety.

It is the main dry bulk cargo handling tool in ports.

2. Classification：

According to the types of working goods, it can be divided into ore grabs, coal grabs, grain grabs, timber grabs, etc.

According to the shape, it can be divided into shell-shaped grab and orange-lobed grab, the former is composed of two complete buckets, and the latter is composed of three or more jaws.

3. How to choose

(1) First, select the power form of the grab according to the crane.

According to the definition of the grab: The grab is a fetching device under the crane, so even the most advanced grab can do the work independently without the crane.

For example: the hoisting drum of the crane is single, and it needs to be equipped with a mechanical grab, only a single-rope grab is equipped.

If it is equipped with a four-rope grab, the grab will not work; another example: the rated lifting capacity of the crane is 25t, to be equipped with a grab bucket, it can only be equipped with the self-weight of the grab bucket + the weight of the cargo to be grabbed = < 25t, if the crane is overloaded, it is not safe.

(2) Next, select the grab bucket structure according to the type of cargo to be loaded and unloaded.

According to the definition of grab: grab is used for loading and unloading various goods.

For example, if the cargo to be loaded and unloaded is coal, it is equipped with a light-duty double-lobed grab.

If equipped with a heavy-duty double-lobed mine grab, the loading and unloading efficiency is at least 50% lower.

Another example: if the type of cargo to be loaded and unloaded is coal, it is equipped with a double-lobed grab. If it is equipped with a toothed wood grab, it cannot be used.

4. Applicable Environment:

Grab buckets are widely used in mining, wharf, metallurgy, building materials, electric power, transportation, papermaking, chemical industry, coal, environmental protection, petroleum, steel and other industries.

Shell-type grab: suitable for loading various bulk cargo, minerals, coal, sand and gravel, earthwork, etc. in ports, docks, station yards, mines, etc., as well as for earthwork excavation, foundation and trench excavation, highway construction, railway laying and other works.

Multi-lobe grab: suitable for scrap steel grabbing and sorting work in steel plants, bulk waste, waste sorting, loading and unloading and handling work in garbage disposal sites and construction sites, and car dismantling, sorting and handling in automobile recycling yards. Recycling work, bucket teeth can be replaced, and high-hardness wear-resistant steel is used to ensure long service life; valve shells can be selected according to different working environments; fully closed valve shells, semi-closed valve shells, wide-sided valve shells and narrow valve shells Side flap shell.

5. Special grab

The timber grab is mainly used for the grabbing and loading and unloading of various specifications of logs, timber, pipes, drums and other objects.

Suitable for log yard, dock unloading and other occasions.

Straw bale grab is a kind of material handling equipment specially developed for straw power plants, mainly for unloading, stacking storage and feeding of straw bale.

The working level is high, and it is suitable for the needs of humid, dusty, frequent use and uninterrupted work in the working environment of the straw silo in the power plant.
