5. Tips on identifying and repairing false faults of bridge cranes


In the operation and use of general bridge cranes, some simple phenomena that are not faults and cannot be operated often occur. For new operators, or units without maintenance personnel, they need to understand and master some identification skills to avoid waiting for maintenance and affecting production.

 

(1) A certain unit has a 10t double-beam bridge crane. Its power indicator light is on and the control linkage indicator light is on, but it cannot start. After maintenance personnel went to the site for inspection, they found that the safety door from the driver's cab to the catwalk was not closed.

 

When the maintenance personnel close the safety door, all operations of the crane are normal. This is a false fault. In the safety protection of the crane, there is a door switch on the hatch door, driver's cab door and inspection door. When the crane driver or maintenance personnel go to the crane for inspection, they must open the hatch door to the crane platform, or Open the access door to the crane track beam. At this time, the normally closed contact of the electrical switch on the opened door is disconnected, and the main contactor of the electrical box is released, thereby cutting off the power supply to the crane, making it impossible to start the crane.

 

At the same time, this protection protects maintenance personnel from the threat of electrification of trolley slide wires on the bridge, and also prevents others from starting to drive and injuring maintenance personnel. It can be seen that the protective function of the safety door switch is very necessary.

 

(2) The power supply of a 10t double-girder bridge crane is normal and all safety doors are closed intact, but it cannot be started. After on-site inspection by maintenance personnel, it was found that the lifting control cam did not return to zero well, that is, although the zero mark of the cam was at the zero position, the zero protection contact did not make contact. Because this is a crane that has been used for many years, the elasticity of its contacts has weakened, causing false faults that sometimes make contact impossible.

 

Replace the contacts with new ones and the non-starting problem is solved. It can be seen from the structure of the cam controller that the zero-position contacts of the hoisting, trolley and cart controllers are closed only when the handles of each controller are placed in the zero position. In any other working position (ie non-zero position), it is in the off position.

 

Therefore, when any controller handle is not in the zero position (or the zero contact is not closed), the main circuit of the crane cannot be connected and the crane cannot be started. This prevents the dangerous accident of sudden movement of the mechanism when the handle is not returned to the zero position for some reason and is restarted in the working position. This is the zero position protection function of the crane.

 

(3) For a 10t double-girder bridge crane, the power supply, safety door and control handle are all in normal positions, but it cannot start when the start button is pressed. Maintenance personnel went to the site to check and forcibly started the main contactor, which was running normally. However, the contactor cannot be disconnected when the stop button is pressed, but the contactor is disconnected when the start button is pressed.

 

Press the stop button again and the main contactor starts normally, indicating that the start button and stop button are connected in reverse. This is a false fault caused by the maintenance personnel not explaining clearly.

 

(4) A 10t double-girder bridge crane has reduced lifting capacity and can only lift more than 5t. After several repairs, it was thought that it was caused by the aging of the electrical part.

 

But check the electrical part, from the power supply to the controller, the wire diameter meets the standard; the contacts of each contactor are intact; the main contacts of the cam controller are also intact; the main hook resistor wiring is correct and the wiring is good; the main hook The motor wiring is correct, the rotor brush is good, and the motor rotation sound is normal, indicating that the fault is not in the electrical part.

 

When inspecting the mechanical part, it was found that the main hook wire rope was greatly worn. When I opened the fixed pulley cover on the trolley frame, I saw that the wire rope was not on the pulley and had fallen on the pulley shaft. It was also found that there was a gap in the pulley rim. A new pulley was replaced and a new wire rope was replaced. The test result was that it was normal to lift a 10t weight.

 

For this fault phenomenon, the general maintenance experience is mostly in the electrical part. For example, if the wire diameter is not enough, the main contact is not in good contact, the resistor wiring is incorrect, etc., it will cause the lifting capacity to be reduced, so many times the maintenance is started in the electrical part, but this is false. The fault was covered by the fixed pulley protective cover, which made the maintenance a detour.

 

This also shows that the lifting equipment is electromechanical, and the electrical part and the mechanical part are inseparable. As long as careful inspection and comprehensive observation are required, some false faults can be identified.
